It's For the Birds!

It looks like the fine folks at Know Mag have done it again! The May 2010 issue of KNOW magazine (Backyard Birds) just won an Association of Educational Publishers award for Best Series (K-5). I was happy to have contributed my regular 2 page "Know Fun" puzzle feature for that very issue.

It was with Know's sister mag Yes that I won my AEP award for best cover a few years back as well. Congrats, Know!

Super-Post!

Here's part of a recent boffo job I did for a swell advertising client. When I was growing up there was nothing young Glen wanted more than to be a comic book artist when he grew up. Even though I eventually did some work on the edge of mainstream comics it's fun to get to do this comic-style stuff now and then. There's a male counterpart to this character and a super-villain in the works as well.

Excelsior!

FREE STUFF!

Joey Green's Amazing Pets Cures hit the stores across North America this week with 44 boffo black & white illustrations from yours truly, Mama Mullaly's little bundle of doodlin' joy!

The publisher blurbs the book thusly: "From the man who knows how to fertilize houseplants with Jell-O and give someone a dry shampoo with Quaker Oats comes the first book of pet care tips that tackles everyday pet illnesses, quirky behaviors, and animal smells and stains by tapping into the power of brand-name products."

But I'll tempt your palette with a patented two-part method. Part 1: By showing you some of the aforementioned illustriously illuminative illustrations. It was a lot of fun getting to work in black and white again for these small spot pieces. The majority of the work that I did for the first fifteen years of my career was in B&W, but it's been a long time since I've last done a job without colour.

And Part 2? My first contest with an actual prize! Yes indeedy folks, I will mail a copy of this swell (but goofy) book (retail value $17.99 U.S. /$19.99 Can) to the winning entrant who leaves a comment on this post before date of contest close (winning name to be randomly drawn from a fez at the stroke of 2:36pm PST on the day that I get my copies from the fine folks at Rodale.)

This contest is open to all readers of this blog (anywhere that I can ship to!), pet owners or not. Employees of Glen Mullaly Worldwide Heavy Industries Consolidated Limited Incorporated PTY LLC PDF BFF and their families are eligible to enter as well, but probably wouldn't want to 'cause they see enough of my goofy scribblings anyway and when's that guy gonna get a real job anyway hey didn't he borrow my hedge clippers last summer and not return them that lousy ingrate!

So leave a comment to enter, and check back over the next couple of weeks for the announcement of the winner. Good Luck!

YIKES!

The latest issue of Yikes Magazine hits the stands April 18th featuring three swell illustrations by yours truly (see recent posts for alternate versions of two of the three images). If you're a 12 year girl, or like embarrassing teen moments or drawings of people passing wind then this the mag for you!

Back From The Grave!

Or so it must seem to you loyal blog readers (all two of you!) who are still around! With my workload at an historically high rates (for me, that is. I'm sure I won't show up in the the next Guinness Book of World's Records ahead of that guy who built a scale model of Mexico City in his rec room out of discarded gum wrappers) I'm afraid this blog, and many other things, have been sorely neglected.

But never fear... I'm back, albeit briefly, with a few quick peeks at the more than 200 illustrations I've completed or have been working on since the start of the year! I'll have more info on these as they come out. But in the meantime have a great Spring!
